I own a '97 Safari Van. I can relate to this.

Yep, they all seem to  do that. Basically, a Chevy that does a really good impression of a Ford.

Yes, but a Chevy will run badly longer than a Ford will run at all, I’ve been told.

Probably, though it depends on the car and the engine. (GM 3.6 V6, Ford 3v 5.4 V8, probably equally terrible).

Paint never stuck to those vans from the factory. Most of the time it just fell off the hood and roof after a few years.

Is that the pimple popper lady?

I rollered Rustoleum onto my 92 Dodge Caravan. Sanded between coats. Near factory finish - although that may not be saying much.

I once looked at a Dodge truck and when I got there I discovered it was painted using Sears Weatherbeater house paint. It was cheap enough to be ok with that if he hadn’t had his kids do the job using brushes. I think he chose brown so at 30ft you couldn’t tell what was brush strokes and what was rust bubbles.

I've heard a couple of theories as to why...

I'm going to try the Wagner Power Sprayer, but I think that you and I may have already discussed this.

I haven't. What could it be? Is it single stage too? That makes it even more impressive they messed it up so badly.

I’ve heard that UV reaches through the topcoat and messes up the primer. I've also heard that some vehicles got primed one day and topcoated the next, and that's what did it.

It almost seems as though the primer peels off and takes the topcoat with it. Strange. Probably a combination of those things.

I am old enough to discover that none of the people that I love are getting any younger.
